John E. Yarnell 10/16/1949 - 05/15/2008 SALEM - John Yarnell passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2008. He was born in Salem, Oregon, the son of Margaret and Glen Yarnell. He spent most of his life in Salem and Denver, Colorado. John graduated from North Salem High School and was in the US Army, serving in Germany and Viet Nam. He was married to Janice Kiewel for 13 years and Rhonda Barrier for 18 years. He worked in underground construction and was a local contractor for many years. John is survived by his sons, Kevin (wife Toni), Jeffrey, and Cody; daughter, Erica; mother, Margaret; brothers, Merle and Glen Jr.; grandchildren, Tiana, Anthony, and Devin. He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Yarnell. John loved people, but especially children. He was a good friend to all and could be counted on whenever a friend needed his help. He was an extraordinary man and will be greatly missed by many. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22 at Willamette National Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. at the Salem Eagles, 2771 Pence Lp SE.
