Life Story for
Eileen Taylor (Simpson)
Eileen Marguerite Taylor, 94, of Macleay died January 16th from complications of a recent stroke.
She was born in Portland, Oregon on March 22, 1922 to LeRoy and Lenore Simpson, the oldest of two children.
She grew up in Rock Creek, Montana creating many precious lifelong memories of the mountains.
After graduating high school, she went on to work for the DMV, the State Highway department, and the State Library. During this time, she married Eugene Brush and had two children- Judith A. Brush and Clarence E. Brush.
After divorcing E. Brush in 1954, she met the love of her life- Jesse Taylor, at church where she was the pianist. They married in 1961 and made their home in the Macleay area. After his passing in 1981, she filled her time with scrap booking, knitting hats, and quilting for fun. Her quilting turned into a lifetime hobby- creating over 2500 quilts, many of which she donated to charitable organizations. She started writing to soldiers overseas, which then turned into 500 or more pen pals.
Finally, she met her “heart adopted family”, the Dixons, a family who moved in next to her home and adopted her as their own. Their love sustained her until her death.
A celebration of Eileen’s life will be held Friday, January 20th at 2:00 p.m. at the Macleay Grange Hall. She’ll be laid to rest at Stipp Memorial Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
