Obituary for
Kathleen K. Byrd
Kathleen was born in Salem to Kenneth & Bernice Seeley. Kathleen was raised in Salem, graduating from North Salem High in 1966. She attended Western Oregon University where she graduated in 1970.
Kathleen married Richard Byrd August 22, 1970 at Pringle Park in Salem. Together they had 3 children.
Kathleen was able to return to North Salem High as a LRC teacher where she retired after 30 years of devotion to a career she was devoted to. She was an amazing teacher to students with disabilities. She enjoyed volunteering her time organizing gift baskets for North Salem High families.
Kathleen was the most kind and loving woman, who loved spending time with her family, going to flea markets, crocheting, traveling, sewing, crafts and just being with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Chelby Thies of Salem, step-daughter, Sandee Taylor of Scottsdale, AZ, step-son, Corey Byrd of Vancouver, WA, grand children; Macarthy Thies of Salem, Monroe Thies of Salem and Ashlee Avila of Phoenix, AZ, siblings; Garry Seeley, Marilyn Harper, & James Seeley, and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents, her husband, and her first child.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salem on Tuesday, May 23 at 1pm. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memory Garden's.
