Carrie Proud-Meyer passed away Wednesday July 19th, 2017 at Salem Hospital peacefully on her own, refusing to allow family to determine her exact time of death; her death, her terms. She was a great Woman, Sister, and Mother born on October 14th, 1969 in California, the daughter of the late Billy Price and survived by her mother Margaret McKenna. She leaves behind a special loved one James “Jim” Reed and a very dysfunctional family that she was very proud of.
Carrie was renowned for her creativity, not holding back her opinion and having the best of intentions in the moment. She was an optimistic fighter against her own health, battling diabetes, renal failure, and the voices in her head; that she always said agreed with her, to the end. Not allowing her health issues, beginning at the young age of 10, keep her in any way from celebrating her 21st birthday, having two beautiful daughters, and living to the mature and grateful age of 47.
With that said she was caring to a fault, had an imagination at heart, and yet she sugar coated nothing. Carrie had no patience, and her far-reaching vocabulary was more than talented. She had more new creative ways to be sarcastic, but humorous, than most people are offended by in a lifetime, and liked to keep everyone smiling and laughing in her presence.
Everyone knew when she walked into the room with her sweet innocent smile and twinkle in her eyes as she would hustle games of pool for drinks, never had to buy her own, won many bar contests for the “oddest tattoo in the oddest place” (Pink Flamingo on her left butt cheek), and she usually came home at sun up in her early twenties…
She will be truly missed and survived by her two beautiful daughters: Amanda Bree Proud (23) and Savana Cendra Ditcher (19); her two younger sisters, Molly Anne Meyer (46), and Kimberly Ann Meyer (38), and her nieces; Alexis Raye Hoffmann (19), and Anahya Marie Raye-Lynne Meyer (6), and many cousins, aunts, and uncles in California, Oregon, and Mexico.
All of whom loved her deeply and will never forget her strength, wit, charm, beauty, and unconditional love and caring for them.
