Obituary for Keith Gwynn

Keith passed away peacefully on Saturday morning September 9th at the age of 91.

He was born on December 2, 1925 in Salem to Harold and Pearl (Litwiller) Gwynn. Keith had one sister and three brothers, he attended school in Salem.

Keith served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was later called back during the Korean War. He worked for Mayflower Dairy, McKinney Lincoln-Mercury Car Dealership then as a steward at the Oregon State Penitentiary.

He married LaVelle Cross on October 24, 1947. They were married 65 years until her passing in February 2013.

Keith enjoyed many vacations with his family camping at Marion Lake and Diamond Lake. He also enjoyed the Oregon coast. Keith and LaVelle spent much of their retirement fishing around the state but mostly at Pacific City. He had many of “fish” stories and was happy to share them with anybody that would listen.

Keith loved the Lord and was an active member of the Salem First Church of the Nazarene. He served on the church board, was a Sunday School teacher and usher.

He is survived by his brother, Wayne Gwynn (Cecilia), children: Sharon Reese (Greg) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Tom Gwynn (Beth) of Salem; grandchildren; Stacey Mathers, Chris (Carlie) Gwynn and Courtney (Mike) Sheldon; and great-grandchildren Lane, Lyla and Lucy Gwynn.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavelle, infant son; sister, Helen Millican and brothers, Bob and Jim Gwynn.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, September 30th at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. 201 Oak Grove Rd. NW Salem

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Salem First Church of the Nazarene.
