Donald Lee VanScyoc was born on January 22, 1958 at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon, the second of three children born to Sharon Ross & Donald Guy VanScyoc. He grew up in north Portland and attended Benson High School. After high school, he did a brief stint in the US Navy. In 1980, he became a proud father to daughter, Melissa. Six years later, another daughter, Amy, was born. He was blessed with the joys of becoming a grandfather in 2005 when his granddaughter Sophia was born. The three girls were his biggest blessings and his pride and joy.
After living in Portland most of his life, he moved to Florence, Oregon in the late 90s to take care of his ailing brother and mother. He enjoyed being so close to the ocean, spending a lot of time fishing and he loved taking care of his mother’s home, building a wood shed and cultivating a beautiful garden. He even started his own landscaping business called Git ‘er Done Landscaping. He was so proud of how far he had come and the things he had accomplished. He remained in Florence until his passing on July 15, 2014. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon and brother Roger. He is survived by his father, Donald Sr., his daughters Melissa and Amy and granddaughter, Sophia. He also is survived by a niece, Tonia and nephew, James.
