Andrew Charles "Charlie" Zeigler

October 11, 1952 to November 30, 2016

Charlie was born on October 11, 1952 in Conrad Montana to Phyllis Pierre and Wilbur Zeigler. Charlie and his family moved to Salem Oregon as an infant. While growing up Charlie tried his hand at many things. He tried fishing on a vacation with his uncle and two sisters but immediately after reeling in his first catch, decided he didn't want anything else to do with it. As he continued to explore different interests, his passion became undeniably clear: automobiles! Charlie developed a love for cars! As a young teenager Charlie would do anything to be around them. He got a job at a gas station while attending high school at South Salem High. Charlie's favorite car he ever owned was a 1967 canary yellow Barracuda with black pin striping and a six pack 340 hemi. After graduating from South Salem High school and learning from his sister Margaret he was going to be drafted, Charlie took control of where he wanted to serve. He enlisted in the Army where he served 2 years in active duty and 4 years in reserves.

In 1973, after serving in the Army, Charlie Zeigler's life was forever changed when Corinne Bibler caught his eye while they both attended Merit-Davis Business College in Salem Oregon. After a playful one hour wrestling match, to retrieve his stolen hat, he was head over heels. Charlie married the love of his life, Corinne, on December 14, 1974. Charlie and Corinne had two boys, Mike and Chris. Almost forty-two years of marriage, and two children later, Charlie still couldn't keep his eye off her and his heart belonged to his family. Charlie had serval jobs until he landed a delivery job position at WinCo Foods where his career spanned 30 years before retiring as the Cart Security Guy.

Charlie loved family. In his later years, Charlie's grandchildren got most of his attention and he loved each one of them. He loved playing practical jokes on them, especially when it came to attending their sporting events. Whenever his grandkids, who attended North Salem High School, would compete against South, he would stand and cheer for South High! He would get a kick out of that!

Charlie lived by the motto "Family: We may not have it all together but together we have it all." If you knew Charlie, you knew you were a part of his family. He loved and accepted you just the way you were and he made you feel like you were his best friend.

At the end of his remarkable life Charlie clung onto God's Amazing Grace and left an impact on everyone he knew by smiling through adversity. He refused to let any situation get him down.

Charlie was preceded in death by his mother Phyllis and his father Wilbur.

He is survived by his wife Corinne, his two sons: Mike and daughter-in-law Kandi, Chris and daughter-in-law Andi. His grandkids: Ayla, Jonathan, Jessi, Sarah, Cali, Samantha, and Phoebe. His sisters: Andrea Norman, Margaret Schlosser, Anita Freeman and his extended Family: Naomi Masters, Justin Lopez, and kids William, Jacob, and Kaytlynn. Kevin Beck and child Cheyenne. Joseph Jorgens and kids Danyelle, and Addison. Robert Rockwell, Theresa Rhoads and child Tyler. Robert Farris, Andi and Chad McLean and child Heather.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Hope Point Church (www.hopepointchurch.com ) located at 1705 12th Street Southeast Salem, on the corner of 12th and Rural, just down the street from South Salem High School. The service will begin at 1:30 PM and there will be viewing from 1:00-1:30 pm. Please, no parking in the Cascade Tires lot. Look for parking attendants to direct you to the next lot.
